…This year, as I contemplate the necessity of darkness, I welcome this opportunity to pause and reflect on its gifts. How in contrast to an all-encompassing darkness, the tiniest spark burns so brightly. How in the warm embrace of darkness there is a relaxation of our bodies and minds that allows us to rest deeply. I am grateful for the wisdom of slowing down, the restorative quiet, and the comforting reassurance that after darkness comes the light.
I have come to appreciate the darkness, like that of the earth beneath our feet where there is a rich universe of connectivity, abundance, and collaboration. Likewise, this darkness is an invitation to dig beneath the surface, to go within and cultivate practices of self-care, nurture our self-love to preserve and sustain our light. And in the depths of darkness one can find great strength and healing…
